The Pasadena Star-News, Mistress of the Revolution and the metric system

The Pasadena Star-News kindly mentions me and Mistress of the Revolution, among other local authors. Thank you, Pasadena Star-News and Michelle Mills!

And while browsing the pages of the Star-News, I found another article related to the French Revolution. Journalist Larry Wilson reminds his readers that the United States, Myanmar and Liberia are the only countries in the world that have not adopted the metric system, one of the most important legacies of the French Revolution.

Larry goes so far as suggesting an ambitious goal for the final months of the Bush administration: convince the rest of
the world to adopt, or return to the English system, sadly abandoned by the nation
that gave it birth.

Of course I grew up with the metric system, and much prefer its simplicity and practicality. On the other hand, I am all in favor of prestigious diplomatic initiatives that will leave a mark in history. Let the Bush administration
use the coalition-building skills that have distinguished its years in office and take the helm of an “axis of virtue” with Myanmar and Liberia. Those
axis things seem to work best with trios anyway.
